Etosha and Paul {Wilmington NC Wedding Photographer}

Etosha and Paul’s wedding was one of my favorites that we’ve done thus far. Their ceremony was in a beautiful Catholic Church in the Thousand Islands last August and the reception was at Etosha’s parent’s house on the water. The rain held off until right when we were getting on the boat to go from the ceremony to the reception so plans for pictures on an island ended up not working out, but we were still able to get some really beautiful shots as the rain came on and off.

Edward and Laila {Syracuse Wedding Photographer}

In August we photographed a reception for Edward and Laila Audi. They were married earlier in the summer in Lebanon and Edward’s mother had this reception for them at her house in Syracuse. There were 450 people there and boy was that a task to photograph all of them as Mrs. Audi had requested! They wanted a few traditional shots of them so we didn’t spend a lot of time trying to be creative. My favorite shots of the night were the ones Ben took of the band, which was absolutely wonderful to listen to.

Nature

Ben really likes to take pictures of nature, so we made a point of trying to take a lot more last year. Ben is definitely better at it than I in the sense that he has the patience and willingness to get dirty, wet, cold, do whatever it takes to get certain shots. I’ll take the picture if it’s readily available. He did all of the snow pictures on Christmas Day standing up to his hips in snow wearing jeans and sneakers for over an hour while I stayed inside the warm apartment baking cookies.

Britney and Jared {Syracuse Wedding Photographer}

So I’m still trying to figure out exactly how I want to format this blog. I guess I’ll just keep trying different things until I really like it. And then change it again because I get bored of course. I’m never really one to stand in the same place for too long. When I was a kid I used to change the style of my handwriting every couple of months, just because.

We moved to North Carolina a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully I’ll be able to start shooting here soon, but I also have a few weddings and portrait shoots in Syracuse this summer.

I’m still catching up on last year’s work here, so the following are some images from a wedding I assisted in August. Nicola Herring e-mailed me from PA asking me to assist her at a wedding in Utica, NY. This was my first assist to someone I hadn’t met and I was pretty excited that someone had actually found me online for such a thing! We shot the reception at the train station in downtown Utica and I loved it. The lighting was great and the room was grand. I bought my Canon 5d Mark II the day of the wedding and boy was I impressed with what I got from it that day!

A Personal Challenge {Syracuse Senior Portrait Photographer}

This whole blog thing is tough for me to keep up on! And I’m not even sure if anyone’s reading it. I guess I’ll keep plugging along though. If you do read, leave a comment!

I decided to challenge myself a little bit with this blog post. I’m absolutely terrible at picking one or even just a few favorites from any shoot, so I’m going to try to show just two shots from each senior shoot I did this summer instead of like a billion for each shoot. I’m probably going to spend the next half hour in agony trying to do that!

Brandon – The shot through the bench idea was actually his. I immediately asked if he could be my assistant forever. Love it when people come up with creative stuff like that and I’m always mad if I didn’t think of it first!

Eva – Her family owns this amazing property will all these gorgeous old buildings. I fell in love the moment I saw it and actually got to use it again later in the summer for the Trash the Dress Shoot we did, which I’m sure I’ll blog about soon. The shot of her in the flowers is just perfect. Such a dreamy look with the sunlight. I love it.

Ryan – He wasn’t too into this as most guys aren’t, but I was pretty excited about what I thought were great model looking shots.

ShawnMichael – He was lots of fun. He wanted to do something “grungy” so we took him to some graffiti and brick walls. Though I think jumping shots are often corny and overdone, he did it well and I loved how this one jumping shot turned out.

Jacqaline – I photographed her at Onondaga Lake Park which is where I’ve done probably more than half of my senior shoots, but still managed to get some original shots of her. Loved her! She was bubbly and fun and I think that really shows in her pictures.

Taylor – Doesn’t she look just like Taylor Swift?! I love train tracks, and she was the perfect person for modeling there in my opinion.

MaryCate – Loved how the one on the bridge turned out. One of those super lucky shots.

I was really lucky to work with all totally awesome seniors this year.

Joe and Alex {Syracuse Wedding Photographer}

Joe and Alex got married at St. Joseph’s in Camillus and had their reception at Lourdes Camp in Skaneateles catered by Dinosaur Barbeque. I remember when they came to our house to meet with us for the first time. Somewhat out of the ordinary, Joe did all the talking and Alex was sweet and quiet. I really liked them immediately and they ended up being one of my favorite couples we’ve worked with. They both have extremely close, amazing friends and one could tell that every person at their wedding really loved them.

They seem to work extremely well together, balance each other out. And I really think they’re going to be extremely happy!

Interesting detail about their ceremony…the priest brought a communion chalice that had been in the possession of Mary Queen of Scots.

Most fun bridal party EVER. Seriously!

This camp is special to them because they both grew up going there every summer.

I always love it when the bride and groom are dancing their first dance, totally oblivious to everything else around them. Everyone kind of stares and says “aww” for a minute and then they get bored and start goofing off. But the couple is still dancing, unaware of their surroundings. Which is how it should be. Always.

Josh Issakainen {Syracuse Portrait Photographer}

Shannon and Justin {Syracuse Wedding Photographer}

In June we went to Adams Center, NY for Shannon and Justin’s wedding that they held on their beautiful property. They built a gazebo on top of a hill for the wedding and set up a tent for the reception near the site of their future home they are building. I loved the simple country details of this wedding and Shannon is probably one of the happiest people I’ve ever met. She loves to laugh and we had such a fun time at their wedding.

Murphy Family {Syracuse Portrait Photographer}

We had photographed the Murphy family sometime last winter, but I wasn’t happy with how the indoor shoot came out, so I offered to do another one for them in the spring. This one came out much better! It was still a bit cold in Syracuse, but the flowers were out in full bloom. This is the same place I photographed the Brown’s. I try to use different spots for most shoots, but Franklin Square seems to be the most popular for any kind of shoot.

In early June Ben and I both had a cousin get married in different states on the same day. His cousin wanted us to photograph theirs, so Ben decided to do it alone. I went to Maryland to attend my cousin’s wedding and he went to Ohio. Neither of us had ever done a wedding alone, and I was impressed with what he came back with.
